Several years ago, my husband received a cherished gift: a photo of his great-great-grandfather, August Iungerich. August is seated in his easy chair in his own living room, surrounded by prized possessions including a large framed photo of his wife and himself - the same photo we have copies of. August was a Civil War veteran and chose to hang the US flag proudly behind himself. Potted geraniums are on tables by the windows. My husband was able to get a peek into his great-great-grandfather's life by seeing what was important to him.
